This time of the year, we are all about baking, aren’t we? And the thing is, when you’re talking about holiday baking, you want it be pretty too. That’s why I’m so excited to share this Cinnamon Nog Twist Bread with you. It tastes incredible, with the flavors of a cinnamon spiced nog and it’s so light and airy with ribbons of cinnamon sugar within. But, what catches everyone’s attention is just how pretty it is. Well, I have to tell you secret…this bread is ridiculously easy to make and you’ll be so proud of your results.
The nog I use is Silk’s Nog made from soy milk. When holiday baking, I don’t want to skimp on my ingredients, but if I can find a healthier alternative that gives me the same results, that’s an awesome bonus. Cup for cup, compared to most traditional egg nog, Silk’s Nog has half of the calories and no cholesterol or saturated fat. It also bakes wonderfully in this bread and gives it great texture.
Serve this for your holiday breakfast or as a fun snack.
Cinnamon Nog Twist Bread
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Silk Nog warmed
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 large eggs room temperature
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- Filling:
- 2 – 3 tablespoons Silk Nog
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm nog and the yeast. Give it a stir and allow to sit for 20 minutes to get bubbly.
- Meanwhile, melt the butter and set it aside to cool down a bit.
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs then add the sugar and vanilla. Mix to combine and add the butter and yeast mixture. Whisk to combine. Slowly mix in the flour, either with a stand mixer or with just a sturdy spoon. One the dough forms a ball, dump it out onto a lightly floured board and knead for about 4 to 5 minutes.
- Place the dough into a large buttered bowl. Cover in plastic wrap and maybe a dishtowel. Keep it in a draft-free spot for 3 hours.
- Once the dough has doubled in size, turn it onto a lightly floured board and roll it out into a large rectangle, about 16 by 14 inches. Brush the top with the nog. In a small bowl, whisk the sugar and cinnamon together. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the top of the dough evenly.
- Begin rolling the dough, from the long side, into a log. Place the log onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Starting about 2 inches down the length of the log, cut the log lengthwise into two halves. Twist the halves together. Pinch the ends together and turn them under. Allow the loaf to sit for about 10 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the loaf for 20 to 25 minutes.

Just came across this beauty today! I cannot wait to try it!!
Caroline
Oooh! I hope you got a chance to make this, Erica! Hope you loved it!
Dani
Hey there!
If I wanted to make three loaves, do you think I would have trouble tripling the recipe in one bowl?
Caroline
Great question, Dani! I’ve never tripled this recipe, but I have doubled it. Doubling is doable (say that five times fast:) but I just think that, unless you have an enormous bowl, nine cups of flour, plus the other ingredients may become unmanageable. I’d love to hear about your experience if you get a chance to make this! Happy holidays!
Barbie
What is silk nog? Can I use milk instead?
Caroline
It’s a non-dairy egg nog, Barbie, but you can absolutely use either milk or traditional egg nog. Hope you love it!
Lisa
Can the dough be made ahead of time?
Caroline
That’s a great question, Lisa! Yeast dough actually can be made ahead of time. There is a method of slowly rising dough in the fridge, called fridge proofing or overnight proofing. For this recipe, instead of proofing on the counter for three hours, you’d place the bowl of dough in the fridge. You may need to punch it down periodically to keep in contained in the bowl. I would take it out when ready and allow the dough to come to room temperature before the next step. I haven’t tested this recipe using fridge proofing, so I can’t guarantee your results. If you give it a try, I’d love to hear how it worked for you. Happy holidays!
Sharmeen
I can’t seem to find silk nog anywhere. can i use regular egg nog instead?

Absolutely, Sharmeen! Regular nog will work well in this recipe. Hope you love it! :)
